Zoe Keating at Le Poisson Rouge on Bleecker Street

It was pouring buckets Sunday night but inside Le Poisson Rouge, cellist Zoe Keating's rare appearance on the East Coast packed the house.
Her mesmerizing compositions of looping and layered musical textures for electric cello kept us all transfixed. "Escape Artist" and "Optimist" from her newest album, Into the Trees, were among my favorites. At the end, she played an improvisational duet with the opening performer, the wonderful violinist Todd Reynolds, a longtime member of Bang On A Can, Steve Reich and Musicians and an early member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project.  The concert was live web-cast by Q2 and tweeted by @Q2music and @wnycradiolab
